The Chevrolet Corvette (C6) is a sports car that was produced by Chevrolet for the 2005 to 2013 model years. The sixth generation Corvette is the first with exposed headlamps since the 1962 model. Production variants include the Z06, ZR1, Grand Sport and 427 Convertible.
The Corvette ZR1 is a legend in its own time, having been awarded numerous “Car of The Year” awards from major automotive magazines and TV shows around the world. For the body, carbon fiber is used on the roof, hood, fenders, front splitter, and rocker moldings. To finish these Corvettes GM painted the hood and fenders while the roof and splitter were merely covered in a clearcoat, retaining their black color. An important design feature was the polycarbonate window placed in the center of the hood, allowing the engine intercooler to be viewed from the exterior. At the time, the wheels were the largest ever placed on a production Corvette, increasing in size and diameter over the Corvette Z06. Braking is provided by ZR1 exclusive Brembo carbon ceramic brakes which have calipers finished in Tacoma blue, an accent color also found on the engine intercooler and ZR1 logo. Equipped with magnetic ride control, this system allows the driver to select shock stiffness settings based on preference or road conditions. All that remained was for Chevy to supply enough
performance for some fun. The LS9 supercharged 6.2L V8 produces 638 HP and is paired with a 6 speed manual and limited slip differential with a 3.42 ratio. The ZR1 can reach 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, blast through the quarter mile in 11 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 mph. Its performance rivals that of million dollar barely legal European ultra-exotic cars, yet is as drivable at normal speeds as a base model Corvette. Truly memorable performance for a car that meets all of the latest emission standards and can deliver surprisingly good highway mileage.
