When Dodge unveiled the Demon it took the whole automotive industry by storm. Dodge had teased the public for months previous with cryptic videos the gave clues about car’s performance potential. What Dodge had created was the ultimate muscle car that was purpose built for straight line performance. The Demon is powered by the Gen 3 supercharged Hemi engine which remains the most powerful V-8 ever installed into a production car, having 840 HP and 770 lb-ft of torque on tap. Indeed, thanks to the mad science worked out by the factory engineers, it has the hardest launch ever of any production car, pulling 1.8g off the line, and that same focus to transfer weight rearward even allows a correctly equipped version to pull the front wheels off the ground. During the press launch, they demonstrated the car’s straight-line performance by doing a wheelie on stage! Dodge made quite a splash with this vehicle, especially after getting a terse letter from NHRA stating it was too fast in its OEM-constructed form to be allowed to race at its facilities without additional changes.
The most important part of the Demon is the supercharged and intercooled 6.2L Hemi V-8 engine with aluminum heads and port fuel injection. Capable of 840 HP using the Demon Crate components, the car uses functional air-catcher headlamps and the Demon-exclusive enlarged hood scoop. Backed by a ZF 8-speed automatic with trans brake is behind it, and a 3.09 mechanical limited-slip differential can put this monster way into the triple-digit zone. Suspension parts like Bilstein shocks, hollow anti-roll bars, multi-link rear suspension, speed-sensing power steering and 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS and vented rotors help keep you out of trouble; a drag-mode suspension tune may get you into it. Riding on 18-inch aluminum wheels with special Nitto drag radials allows it to hook that 840hp to the pavement.
This Demon offered here for sale was ordered in the ultra-rare B5 Blue of which only 148 were ordered from the factory. Additionally, it was one apporximately 8 known examples to be optioned with cloth interior including all seats. Other factory options include satin black hood, red seat belts, the Demon vehicle storage package, and cargo area dress-up. Included in the sale is the Demon Crate which includes a hydraulic floor jack with carrying bag, cordless impact wrench with charger, torque wrench, tire-pressure gauge, fender cover, tool bag, performance powertrain control module with high-octane engine calibration, switch module containing high-octane button, conical performance air filter, front drag tires and a foam case that fits into the trunk and securely holds the front runners.
With only 260 miles on the odometer, this Demon is in brand new showroom condition. Included in the sale is the manuals, battery tender, car cover, demon crate and more. With the end of Challenger production coming shortly, the Demon remains one of the baddest street legal Challengers to ever come out of the factory!
