2017 Cheetah Evolution

LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 2017 Cheetah Evolution 

  With Carroll Shelby’s Cobra dominating road courses across the USA, some of the enthusiasts working for the General Motors corporation wanted to build an answer.  In 1962 and 1963, the plan was to build the Corvette Grand Sport to take on Carroll Shelby’s hot rods on road courses but GM management’s bean-counters pulled the plug on all of the company’s racing programs after only 11 Grand Sports were ever built. 

  With GM unable to race, they turned their attention to helping privateers with technical assistance who ran Chevrolet power plants. That included Bill Thomas from Anaheim, California who created the Cheetah along with his lead fabricator Don Edmunds. He used his years of experience racing Corvettes to develop a lightweight Chevrolet powered sports car. With only 11 first-generation examples built and fewer surviving, an original Cheetah remains extremely rare to find!  

  Ohio based company Ruth Engineering were not content leaving Bill Thomas’s Cheetah legend to rest. They spent years developing an all new Cheetah with the looks of the original but updated with a modernized chassis and suspension systems to help it hold its own against modern cars. They started with a round-tube chassis with an original 90-inch wheelbase, which made use of GM/ALCOA suspension components, a Winters Performance rear axle section and a custom designed radiator and fuel tanks. From there, they made subtle modifications to the body, such as the incorporation of real A-pillars, a DOT laminated glass windshield and the whole body was made wider to accept more modern wheels, tires and brakes.

  This Cheetah Evolution started production 2015 and was finished in a beautiful dark Blue metallic paint complemented by a Tan interior with added air conditioning. Under the hood is a stroker 377ci small block Chevrolet engine topped with Hilborn fuel injection that produces 523hp through an engine dyno! Shifting is handled by a 5-speed manual transmission which sends power to a C4 Corvette style independent rear suspension. Four-wheel disc brakes are hiding under 18-inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels. 

  This Cheetah Evolution is a unique machine that uses the styling of the original with modern technology to be able to perform as good as she looks!
