  Introduced in 2006, the Audi R8 Coupe was an instant hit drawing design inspiration from the Audi Le Mans Quattro concept car and sharing the same chassis of the Lamborghini Gallardo. The initial production run featured the engine of the Audi RS4, a 4.2L V8 producing 417 HP and capable of 0-60 MPH in 4.3 seconds. For the 2009 model, an optional 525 HP 5.2L V10 was added by Audi which was borrowed from the Lamborghini Gallardo. This new engine drew even higher praise with an unmistakable high-revving V10 sound that pulls right up to the 8,500-RPM redline. This was offered with transmission choices: a six-speed automated R-tronic or the gated six-speed manual transmission. Very few buyers picked the optional 5.2L V10 and the six speed manual transmission with an estimated 58 examples built for the North American market in 2011.
