The vehicle of choice in the Porsche Carrera Cup and international Porsche Supercup series, the Porsche GT3 has also won seven GT class championships in the American Le Mans series, finished first overall in the 24 Hours of Daytona and taken six outright wins in the Nürburgring 24 Hours. In 2007, Porsche offered the GT3 RS, a lightweight version fitted with the wider body and functional components needed to homologate the new RSR aimed at the Le Mans series in both North America and Europe.

In the great tradition of Porsche’s Carrera RS 2.8, the GT3 RS is essentially a street-legal, raw track-ready improvement over its already impressive GT3 brother. The GT3 RS is a much more intelligent, naturally aspirated Porsche experience. With 415-hp on tap, an 8,400-rpm redline, close-ratio six-speed gearbox and stunning wider rear bodywork for greater stability and cornering grip, it is among the conscientious driver’s first choices. The horizontally-opposed six-cylinder, 3.6-liter engine is built with the racetrack in mind. It is lighter than a standard GT3 and with special carbon fiber bucket seats and a factory rollcage.

Weight savings were realized with a thinner rear window, carbon fiber for the front and rear deck lids and adjustable rear spoiler and extensive use of Alcantara inside, including on the steering wheel and lightweight bucket seats. The RS was easily identified by the high rear wing, redesigned front valence and reversed-out “GT3 RS” body-side lettering that recalled the original 1973 Carrera RS.

This California delivered example has been driven just 5,490 miles since new with no track use. It was painted the ultra-rare Green with black accents (a $3070 option), which is the most desirable color with only 25 built in 2007.
