2003 Mercury Marauder

The Mercury Marauder is the name of three different generations of muscle built by the Mercury Division of Ford. The Marauder was first introduced as the high-performance model of the full-size Mercs for 1963-65, the second generation was in 1969-70 then Marauder nameplate was revived as a high-performance variant of the full-size Grand Marquis for the 2003-04 model years.

The Marauder name always means big V8 power in the full size Mercury. For the 2003 model year the Marauder name returned after a 33-year absence as the full-size "muscle sedan" and for the first time was sold without a Ford equivalent. The chassis of the Ford Panther platform underwent extensive upgrades to improve structural rigidity, ride, and handling including rack-and-pinion steering and the rear shock absorbers being moved outboard of the frame rails. Performance came from the 4.6L Modular V8 fitted with a DOHC 4-valve version producing 302 HP. The Marauder was fitted with the 4R70W 4-Speed Automatic, 3.55 rear axle ratio and aluminum driveshaft from the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor since, in police use, it was designed for speeds above 150 mph. In its overall styling, the Marauder follows the monochromatic theme with the only chrome trim being the window trim, wheels, and the Mercury grille/trunk badges. This look was enhanced by the blacked out grille and the head/corner/taillights. Unique to the Marauder, the wheel center caps feature a revival of the famous ‘60s Mercury logo - the silhouette of the mythical Roman God Mercury. The bumpers were unique to the Marauder; the model name embossed on the rear bumper which was redesigned to accommodate the larger tailpipe tips while the front bumper redesign was to accept a central air intake to improve engine ventilation along with twin fog lamps. Inside an instrument panel fitted with satin aluminum gauges plus the addition of a tachometer and a 140mph speedometer. These muscle beasts were of limited production as only 7838 were produced and certainly was the last of the cool Mercs.

This Marauder S is super rare being only 1 of 328 in the Dark Pearl Blue with Dark Charcoal interior. More importantly this is a Marauder S Kenny Brown edition that translates to Big – Blown – Bad. The Marauder had the no expense spared Kenny Brown Performance Package conversions that include a custom-tuned Vortech SQ Supercharger with an Air-To-Water aftercooler, custom calibration, sport touring suspension with lowered ride height, dead pedal, high performance Pirelli 18” tires, exhaust, 4.10 sprint gears, high performance 14” brakes, transmission cooler and high speed drive shaft. The Vortech centrifugal supercharger system provide this Marauder with 450 HP. The Marauder becomes a street fighter with attitude and the benchmark of Super Sedan Performance. The Kenny Brown Performance identification plate is present under hood, a small serialized plate on the console and signature logos on the exterior. The car comes with the Owner’s Manual, Original Bill of Sale, Window Sticker, Kenny Brown documentation including Dynojet results, , Shop Manual and Wiring Diagram Book. A one owner car  with only 6,200 original miles and climate control storage have kept this car in like new condition.
