For more than 50 years, the Corvette has either been the ‘dream to own’ someday or been given that special place in the garage of a Corvette enthusiast. Crafted from a precise blend of power, performance, style and comfort, the Corvette’s success has been based on a willingness to embrace advancing technology while remaining true to its heritage. This is the GM philosophy that ensures continued success with each generation of the iconic Corvette. The Chevrolet Corvette C5, for Fifth Generation, sports car was produced for the 1997 through 2004 model years at the famous Bowling Green Kentucky facility. C5’s exterior design was truly an aerodynamic wedge with low profile front end and a high, bold rear end having four large tail lights along with four large exhaust ports. The sleekness of this design was partly achieved with the famous hide-away headlights. C5’s continued the tradition started in 1963 and was the last to have them as the next generation returned to exposed headlamps. For the C5’s the transmission was relocated to the rear of the car to form an integrated, rear-mounted transaxle assembly, connected to the LS1 5.7L engine via a torque tube - an engine/transmission arrangement enabling a 50-50 percentage front-rear weight distribution for improved handling. The 4L60-E Automatic Transmission carried over from previous models, but the manual was replaced by a Borg-Warner T-56 6-Speed capable of a 175 mph top speed. Aside from cosmetic differences like new wheel styles, paint colors, horsepower boosts, and new optional equipment offerings, there were few fundamental changes from one model year to the next within the C5 production run. However the 2003 model year was a significant achievement as Chevrolet was proudly commemorating a half-century of Corvette production. A slightly modified 50th Anniversary Corvette was chosen to pace the Indianapolis 500 race in May 2002 before the production vehicle became the centerpiece of the 50th Celebration. Available in Convertible and Coupe models, but not Z06’s, there were just 7547 Anniversary Corvettes produced with 54% being Convertibles.

This very special 2003 Corvette 50th Anniversary Edition was originally shipped to Kerbeck Cadillac Pontiac Chevrolet in Atlantic City, NJ. The 50th Anniversary Edition came with a special shade of red paint, labeled as Code 94U for the "Anniversary Red Metallic", which has a glamorous glow and richness as it flows over the design lines. The factory paint is in wonderful condition and coordinates so well with the Shale Two-tone Leather interior and with the Shale-colored Soft Top. The Anniversary Corvette was evident with the special 50th Corvette Crossed Flag logo design embroidered into the Steering Wheel, Headrests, Console Storage Cover, Floor Mats and underside of the Trunk Lid. Power under the hood is the all-aluminum LS1 5.7-liter/350 cu. in Tuned Port Injection that is nestled into a very clean engine room. Power is connected to the optional Code MM6 6-Speed Manual Transmission. This 350 HP package delivers plenty of ground pounding torque through the Shale-tone painted 5-Spoke Aluminum Wheels mounted on Goodyear Eagles. Chevrolet's’ Corvette advertisements boasted about their powerful sports car icon with ‘Of course the last 50 years have been a blur. That’s the whole point’. The C5 was capable of matching or besting the 0–60 mph acceleration times of some of the world's premier sports cars. Documentation at the time stated the Convertible equipped with the 6-Speed Manual Transmission had a 0–60 mph time of around 4.7 seconds and a standing quarter-mile time of around 13.2 seconds at 109 mph. In short, the engine design provided a much lower hood line along with the new composite leaf springs helped provide the C5 with its excellent ride characteristics, impressive performance and distinctive ride height. As well the famous Corvette ride and handling was enhanced with new option of the F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control Suspension which was standard on the 1SC-equipped Anniversary Edition vehicles. This Anniversary Corvette also provides you with all the power control convenience options such as AM/FM CD/12 Disc/Bose Entertainment System, the Head-Up Display (HUD) projecting vehicle speed/other gauges digitally on the windshield enabling the driver to keep their eyes on the road, PW, PD, 6-Way Power Seat, Cruise, A/C and Power Telescoping and Manual Tilt Steering. Previous Owner is passing along the original Owner’s Manual, Tape and Window Sticker.

Every aspect of this 2003 50th Anniversary Corvette Convertible – exterior, interior and undercarriage - reflects the like new condition as expected from a sports car registering just 5358 miles. Celebrating being 50 this Corvette was still fast and ferociously fun on the road!
