The Ferrari 550 Maranello (Type F133) is a front-engine V12 2-seat grand tourer built from 1996 to 2002. The 550 Maranello marked Ferrari's return to a front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout for its 2-seater 12-cylinder model. This also acknowledged their illustrious past as Ferrari had been without a two-seat, front-engine V-12 coupe since the Daytona was discontinued in the early 1970s. The model name referred to the 5.5-litres total engine displacement in deciliters and to the town of Maranello, home to the Ferrari headquarters and factory. Pininfarina executed both the exterior and interior design. Therefore a grand return to the company’s golden days of the 1960’s with amazing style and spectacular performance.

In 2000 Ferrari introduced the 550 Barchetta Pininfarina, a very limited production version of the 550. The Barchetta features a shorter, more aggressively raked windshield, two-piece alloy wheels, an aluminum fuel-filler door, and a restyled trunk that was actually larger than that of the coupe. Additionally, all 550 Barchettas were equipped with racing seats, which were optional in the coupe. Unlike the Daytona Spider, the Barchetta was a true roadster, as it was equipped with a soft top substantial enough only for low speed use—Ferrari’s way of enticing their customers to have fun in the sun. The 550 front-engine V12 with 4 valves per cylinder, Bosch Motronic fuel injection, dual overhead cams and the 6-speed manual gearbox located at the rear-wheel drive axle resulting in an impressive 485 bhp. The chassis is tubular steel space frame to which the aluminum body panels are soldered and has independent front and rear suspension. Rack and pinion steering with variable power assist and four-wheel ventilated Brembo disc brakes with ABS to stop the magnesium alloy 18-inch wheels. Together this package provides a great handling performance car on a wheelbase of just 98.5 in. As for excitement, the manufacturer claimed a top speed of 199 mph while Motor Trend magazine recorded a 0 to 60 miles per hour acceleration time of 4.2 seconds and a ¼ mile performance of 12.5 seconds at 116.9 mph. Certainly enough to leave other drivers with just an opportunity to admire the famous chrome prancing Ferrari horse between the four protruding round tail lights.

And of course, the European touch of class in the trunk, a beautiful five-piece Black/Brown Leather trimmed Luggage Set with the Ferrari logos for the longer adventurous trips.  This 2,300 mile car has been collector owned, kept in climate controlled environment and is in as new condition.
