Concept cars by the Detroit manufacturers are well known for their ability to capture the hearts and minds of the public with eye catching and head turning designs. The Plymouth Prowler became that most desired car in 1993 when the concept was revealed during the North American Auto Show in Detroit Michigan. While admiring concept cars the buying public expects that only certain design features will ever be included in assembly line cars of the future since they never expect full production of a car like that for the streets. Plymouth absolutely shocked everyone by putting the Prowler into production.

The design of the Prowler was inspired after Chrysler engineers were given free rein to create whatever they wanted in a "hot rod" or "sportster" type vehicle. One of the most striking design features of the Prowler are the open Indy racer-style front wheels. The body was produced in Shadyside, Ohio and the car was assembled by hand at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit. The Prowler, a true hot rod style car, was offered in a single generation as a front-engine, rear-drive and rear-transmission configuration. The production in 1997 and 1999 – 2002 was just over 11,700 including a few special editions making it a very sought after retro styled convertible by collectors. In 2001 production ceased under the Plymouth name and thereafter under Chrysler badging.

This Plymouth Prowler was built and sold New from Pitre Chrysler in Scottsdale, Arizona. This edition is stunningly finished in the very rare and collectible bold Yellow with a Black Soft Convertible Top and paired with the matching Yellow Trailer. Power is derived from the 3.5L 24-Valve V6 engine producing an impressive 253 HP linked to a 4-Speed Autostick Transmission. The transmission was located at the rear and joined to the engine by a torque tube that rotated at engine speed, an arrangement similar to that used by the C5 Corvette, Porsche 944 and Alfa Romeo 75. This configuration helped to facilitate a desirable 50-50 front-rear weight distribution. The hot rod look is finished with 5-Spoke Chrome Wheels on huge 20” rear wheels and 17” on the front giving it a very aggressive raked look. The lightweight Prowler has excellent performance and impressive off-the-line acceleration to achieve 0-60mph in under 6 seconds. The Agate Leather Trimmed Bucket Seat interior and Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel still shows beautifully. Standard equipment features included A/C, Halogen Headlamps, Speed Control, AM/FM/Cass, PW, PD Locks, P Mirrors, Rear Defroster, Tach and Keyless Entry. This car has clearly been meticulously maintained and is like new. The next Prowler owner will be provided with 2 sets of keys with key fobs, the Owner’s Manual Packet (never opened and new in the plastic), Service Manual, Prowler CD (new and unopened) the original Chrysler Window Sticker. Having covered only 7,072 miles from new, always serviced and cared for it shows in as new condition.
