The 930 Turbo has always been one of Porsche’s landmark models being their first turbocharged 911 variant. In addition to its seductive looks, it was the motorsports competition success that solidified the mystique of the 930 Turbo having won the 1976 Trans-Am racing championship in a 930 based 934 as well as first overall at the 1979 24 Hours of LeMans in a 930 based 935. Built to an incredibly high-quality standard, the fit and finish is second to none. Moreover, the 930 Turbo was mechanically reliable–unlike its Italian super-car counterparts of the day—and could be used as a daily driver. 

In 1979, Porsche announced that it was no longer going to import the immensely popular 930 Turbo for the 1980 model year, citing ever stringent emission mandates as the reason for its exit from the American market. The Porsche Turbo returned to the U.S. for model-year 1986, largely unchanged in appearance and overall specification from its predecessor from 1979. However, there were some significant changes not visible to the naked eye. The horsepower from the 3.3L 6-cylinder engine was increased to a net output of 282 HP, as seen on this example, largely the result of DME—Digital Mototronics Electronics—the Robert Bosch-designed engine control unit.

The original owner of this Turbo ordered his new 930 in paint to sample Pearl White with paint to sample tan leather interior, this color combination is stunning! Under the rear bonnet, it is still powered by the numbers matching 3.3-liter turbocharged flat six and four speed manual transmission. Other options include leather steering wheel, heated seats, Blaupunkt radio, limited slip differential, electric mirror, sport seats, alarm system and electric sliding sunroof. 

With only three meticulous owners from new, this Turbo presents today in exceptional condition with only 83,210 miles from new. The last two owners kept very detailed service records with receipts included. Also included are the original owner’s manuals, warranty booklet, first aid kit, tools, Porsche COA and more! 

Finding a 930 Turbo in this specification, mileage, and condition is becoming increasingly more difficult. This fine example would be a noteworthy addition to any collection and equally enjoyable to use as a standalone weekend getaway car.
