1986 Ferrari Mondial

Ferrari revealed their replacement for the 308 GT4 at the Geneva Auto Show in 1980. The Mondial 8 was styled by Pininfarina and sat on a wheelbase that was four inches longer than its predecessor. The car’s stretched ride afforded more leg room for rear passengers and made the 2+2 configuration more practical than the 308 GT4. The Ferrari Mondial 8 became available in the U.S. in 1982, and while the press praised it for its ergonomics, build quality, and handling, its acceleration was not on par with the 308 GT4, which was carbureted and lighter. In order to address these criticisms Ferrari introduced the Mondial Quattrovalvole in 1983, replacing the two-valve motor with a four-valve-per-cylinder version of the now familiar 3-liter V-8. All V-8 powered Ferraris enjoyed a power increase in 1986 when the Quattrovalvole motor's displacement was increased to 3.2 liters, and the resultant Mondial 3.2 now had 260 hp in coupe and Cabriolet form.

This 1986 Ferrari Mondial is factory finished in Corsa Red complemented by the Tan Connolly which is a timeless combination. The car's paint and trim are in great condition, as is the glass which is clear and intact.  Leather seats are in very good order, as is the matching carpet. All seats, including those in the rear, are strongly bucket-shaped and fitted with inertia-reel seatbelts; three-point in front, two-point in back. Under the hood is Ferrari's 3.2L, 32-valve DOHC V-8 engine (F105C040) with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and breathing via quad exhausts. A five-speed, all-indirect manual transmission using a “dog-leg” selector pattern was the only transmission offered. The car is also equipped with such amenities as air conditioning and power windows. This Prancing Horse rolls on five-spoke alloy wheels wrapped with Michelin TRX tires.

With 32,273 miles on the odometer, this 1986 Ferrari Mondial 3.2 Cabriolet has been well maintained since new. It also comes with original manuals and toolkit.
