In 1979 Pontiac celebrated a milestone, what could arguably be described as their most famous performance model, the Trans Am, had been in production for 10 years. To commemorate the occasion Pontiac offered a special Anniversary Edition finished entirely in Silver with silver interior. You had your choice of 4 speed manual with the L78 400 engine or automatic transmission with 403 Olds engine. Once the production run ended, automatics outnumbered 4 speed cars by 4:1.
