L82 Equipped Pace Car Edition

By 1978, the Chevrolet Corvette had already been in production for 25 years, longer than most models ever lasted even then. It was also a year that the Corvette would be honored by pacing the famous Indy 500 so Chevrolet took the opportunity to commemorate the event with a spectacular Pace Car package. All the cars would be finished in black and silver with matching silver interior. They would come complete with the lettering to replicate those of the Pace Car used. The Pace Car Edition option was available with any of the optional drivetrains including the L82 engine. Today they have become quite sought after in the collector world with only 6,502 being produced, and only approx 25% of those coming with the L82 engine.

Recently traded in to LMC is this beautiful 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car edition. The car has been very well maintained since day 1, a fact further enforced by the excellent overall quality of it, from the original body and paint to the stunning original silver interior. This particular car is also one of the few with the desirable, numbers matching 220hp L82 engine and numbers matching automatic transmission. The car is also optioned with power steering, power brakes, AM/FM radio, power windows, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, cruise control and of course factory Air Conditioning. One feature still with this car is the rare jacket that came with it when new, straight out of 1978, it also remains in excellent condition. The 1978 Corvette L82 Pace Car is one of the few bright spots of the performance car world in the late 1970's, with their great styling, rarity and desirability among collectors and enthusiasts make this a great opportunity not to be missed.
