Some cars are destined to be collector cars. They are produced in limited quantities, some to commemorate achievements of a brand or model, some are stand alone models and others are special packages available to make them unique. Whatever the case may be, some result in massive collector followings and some for a variety of reasons never catch on. At least one collector saw the newly unveiled 1978 Corvette Pace Car edition and knew these would someday be something truly special.

This gorgeous one owner 1978 Pace Car has a remarkable 320 original miles since being delivered new from Dexter Chevrolet. Finished just as all Corvette Pace Cars were, this car showcases its factory applied black paint with silver trim and red pin striping. Open the door and you'll find silver leather bucket seat interior, all original to the car of course and not showing so much as a wear mark. Also as with other Pace Cars, it is fully loaded with features including power steering, power windows, power door locks, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, glass roof panels, air conditioning as well as optional "gymkhana" suspension and cruise control. What makes this car stand out from the crowd, besides the obvious low original mileage, has to be the large amount of documentation that comes with it. Starting with the original cheque used to put a deposit on the car many months before it would even be delivered, the car also has the original window sticker, original bill of sale, original state registration slip from November 1978, of course the original warranty card, owners manual, newspaper articles documenting the new model and much much more. Also being a collector, the original owner had the wherewithal to remove the original tank sticker before it had an opportunity to age too much. This car is a true time capsule automobile. There may be other low mileage Pace Cars out there, but to find such a beautiful, unmolested example which has not traded hands from one collector to another, with such an impressive list of documentation and history to go with it; is a truly remarkable find. It represents an opportunity not to be missed.
