Rare Super Duty 455 - 4 Speed

Timing is everything and unfortunately forPontiactheir incredible Super Duty arrived just at the tail end of the muscle car era for the 1973 model year. The legend that is the Super Duty still managed to grow with performance that somehow rivaled that of its competition from the peak of the muscle car days just a few years earlier despite being bogged down with lower compression and emission controls. To this day, Super Duty Pontiacs continue to perform well at Pure Stock Drags but with only two years of production they are a truly rare beast. For 1974 a mere 943 were produced with only 212 of those being the now very desirable 4 speeds.

Presented here is perhaps one of the best examples of 4 speed Super Duty cars around. This car shows to have lived a well maintained existence since being delivered new at Persinger Pontiac in June of 1974. The car retains a large amount of history and even remains incredibly original. When first seeing the car, you are immediately drawn in by the striking Buccaneer Red paint and white interior. The car presents so well, many would quickly assume it has been restored but a close inspection will also reveal that the car is still largely covered in its original, factory applied paint including original hood paint with hood bird and it all matches perfectly to the original interior. The car also has the important numbers matching SD455 motor and numbers matching 4 speed transmission; a true testament to the care and attention the car has always received. Further evidence of this can be found when going through the documentation that comes with it. Of course the car comes with full PHS paperwork but it also comes with a breakdown of owner history, maintenance and mechanical work which was completed, original and well preserved factory build sheet, Trans Am Nationals judging sheets along with much more. The car was even used as part of the 1993 Muscle Car Pure Stock drags where it won for its class, showing that although beautifully preserved, it was occasionally used the way intended. Adding to this cars provenance, it was also featured on the popular TV show "The American Muscle Car". Some cars often remain original but perhaps shouldn't and need a restoration while beautiful originals such as this are a special find. To have the opportunity to not only acquire a beautifully maintained and documented original Trans Am is rare enough, but to combine that with this car being among the rarest most desirable and collectible T/A's produced really make this an opportunity not to be missed.
