One Owner for 39 Years - All Original Mach 1

The 1973 Mustangs were going to be the end of an era. Ford announced that starting in 1974 they would release the much smaller, more efficient Mustang II due to the increasing fuel crisis which all muscle car enthusiast know spelled the end of an important era in automotive history. After the major redesign for 1971, the 1973's had the same body style with the addition of the body integrated front bumper painted body colour to comply with new for '73 safety standards.

Whether or not the upcoming design change lead to the purchase of this Mach 1 is unknown, but what we do know is that on September 24, 1973 a 1968 Mercury Cyclone was traded into Armstrong Ford in Connelly Springs North Carolina and the customers drove home their brand new, Ivy Green Mustang Mach 1. The car was optioned with metallic glow paint, tutone hood paint, power steering, power front disc brakes, tinted glass, forged aluminum wheels, rear bumper guards, select shift Cruise O Matic transmission and of course factory Air Conditioning. The original owners would retain this Mach 1 for a total of 39 years and over that time they maintained the car beautifully. Their attention to the car meant that not only did it never require a restoration, but never even required a repaint as this car still retains its original factory applied Ivy Green paint. The original interior, the original 302 cubic inch engine and automatic transmission also remain in the car, a remarkable achievement. Along with the car there is still the original vehicle invoice, original owner car and original owners manual. An excellent original car which still drives as new, a long time one owner car ready for the next chapter of its life.
