1971 Plymouth Cuda 440/6Pack

LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1971 Plymouth Cuda 440-6.

With stiff competition from the Mustang and Camaro’s of the 1960’s, Chrysler was paying attention to the rapidly expanding youthful compact car market. Their intermediate Dodge Charger and Plymouth Road Runner models were reasonably successful, but the small Valiant-based Plymouth Barracuda, introduced before the Mustang in 1964, had never made a big splash. The engineers decided to both simplify the Barracuda for its third generation, to be introduced in 1969 as a 1970 model, and to equip it with everything it would need to guarantee success on the street and on the drag strip. The AAR was discontinued for 1971, but the other 'Cuda variants were carried over with a splash of fish-inspired style; the single headlamps, recessed horizontal grille and integrated signals lights were replaced by quad headlamps flanking a six-"gill" grille and under-bumper signal lights. The 71 Cuda’s also sported four simulated front fender vents, and separate-element tail lamps replaced the one-piece units. Redesigned side stripes included the famous "billboard" units with integrated engine callouts.

This stunning example has had a full rotisserie restoration and finished in code FE5 Rally red with the famous mat black billboard announcing its incredible 440 – 6 pack engine breathing through the legendary Shaker hood. This car has all the right stuff for the Cuda collector with impressive attention to detail top to bottom. The numbers matching engine is mated to the numbers matching 727 transmission with Sure Grip rear differential and dual exhaust. The equipment list includes Power steering and power brakes and optional bumper mounted fog lights. The incredible black leather interior features the tasteful Cuda wood grained steering wheel with matching wood grain instrument panel and shifter console. To further compliment the stunning lines of this Cuda it has rear window slats and rear spoiler in matte black. This impressive package rolls on the trade mark Plymouth Rally rims with period correct Polyglas tires.
