The Boss 351 designation refers to the new engine, a 351 cubic inch High Output motor which produced 330 horsepower, a full 40 horsepower more than the Boss 302, making it the quicker of the two at the drag strip.  Journalists cite that on New York National Speedway it would repeatedly inhale its way through the quarter mile in under 14 seconds at over 100 mph.  The Boss 351 is a real collector's piece because it was only produced for one model year.  As the muscle car era came to a close, the Ford performance division is remembered by the menacing four speed, drag ready Boss cars that reiterated their reputation with every time slip.
