1970 Plymouth Cuda - "V" Code 440/6pk, Broadcast Sheet

LMC is proud to offer for sale this 1970 ‘Cuda.

The Plymouth Barracuda and sport model ‘Cuda variant had very humble beginnings. Starting out as a redesigned Valiant set to take on Ford’s incredibly popular Mustang. Although it didn’t take off in popularity like the Mustang, it developed a loyal following. In 1970, Plymouth decided to step up its game with a new E-body which was shorter and wider and removed all commonality with the Valiant. This new design, and new “Cuda line, only lasted until 1974, but, the ‘Cuda has gone down in history as one of the most attractive and desirable muscle cars ever built. For engines, the 1970 Barracuda/Barracuda Gran Coupe/’Cuda line up had six and eight cylinder versions ranging from a new 198 cu in six to the mighty 426 Hemi. In 1970, next to the Hemi in the Mopar Big-Block power options was the 440 with 3-2bbl providing 390HP. The 440 and the 426 power plants take on a mean look as these power plants can be seen peering through the hood. Both the 440 and Hemi-equipped cars received upgraded suspension components and structural reinforcements to help transfer the power to the road. Mopar Muscle was certainly known for "high impact" colors during this era and also sported some of the best go fast stripes like the Black Hockey Stick on the hind quarter proudly displaying the engine block number such as 440 in the stick blade. Plymouth advertised these cars as part of their ‘Rapid Transit System’ and suggested “There are two kinds of Barracudas in this world. Those that do…and those that really do. You bet this Yellow ‘Cuda really can do!

This 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda Coupe is finished Sunfire Yellow exterior and complemented by white interior with black carpeting, a striking compliment against the exterior. The fender tag reveals options and features including: factory “V” code 440-6 pack engine with a D21 Code 4-speed "pistol grip" heavy duty transmission and Dana rear end, dual exhaust with bright chrome tips, Rallye instrument cluster, tach, power brakes, road lamps, rallye wheels with Goodyear Polyglass tires and a black raised rear wing. Additionally, optioned with the Code A33 Track-Pak it comes with a 3.54 final drive ratio and HEMI suspension (only available on vehicles with a 440 or 426 HEMI engine equipped with a 4 speed). The familiar Mopar orange big block, sitting in a clean and well detailed engine bay, features the very unique looking air breather that snorkels up from the engine bay through the renowned Shaker Hood. This Cuda has been very nicely restored and comes documented with its Broadcast sheet. The 1970 ‘Cuda is a very special and classic design as it combined one of the greatest street motors of the muscle car era with beautiful styling. This incredible car with its many desirable options and hard-to-find color combination is a favored and welcomed addition to any enthusiast’s garage or collection.
