1970 Shelby GT350 Convertible

Very Rare and Collectible Fully Documented Shelby

In 1964, when Lee Iacocca said, "Shelby, I want you to make a sports car out of the Mustang,"  Shelby responded with "Lee, you can't make a racehorse out of a mule."  Lee Iacocca was a man that did not take no for an answer, an attitude that changed automotive history forever.  When Carroll Shelby reworked a 1965 Ford Mustang to within an inch of its pony car life, the result was a howling, race ready, muscle car that "beat the pants off" rival sports cars Shelby would boast.  Today, the Shelby GT350 remains an iconic performance machine, easily distinguished from other Mustangs by both performance and valuation.  This is a car that enthusiasts and collectors share a strong passion behind.  The story of Carroll Shelby and the creation of one of the most desirable muscle cars of all time will continue to be passed down for generations.

Legendary Motorcar is proud to present this 1970 Shelby GT350 Convertible.  First impression of the factory correct "candy apple red" paint with black racing stripes creates an instant allure.  The unique hood scoops direct air into the 351 Windsor V-8 engine.  Conveniences such as power front disc brakes, power steering, "Cruise-O-Matic" transmission,  "Traction-Lok" differential and air conditioning means that this convertible is ready to drop the top and hit the gas.  Whether being proudly displayed at a classic show or just cruising with friends and family, everyone will thoroughly enjoy this GT350 Convertible.

This car is very well documented, obtaining both pages 1074 and 1166 in the Shelby Vehicle Registry as well as the Marti report, a copy of the MSO and loan papers.  Without a doubt, the authenticity of this vehicle can not be disputed.  The previous owner has been a long time SAAC club member and having lived on the west coast, the vehicle (and owners) has had the privilege of cruising in warm dry weather year round.  Naturally, this has allowed the body to remain in extremely favourable condition.

What is interesting about this vehicle is that official Shelby Mustang GT350 and GT500 production ceased in 1969.  The 1970 model is a result of the Ford Motor Company rebranding the VIN plates and unknowingly increasing the rarity of the vehicle.  A 1970 Shelby GT350 convertible is scarcely seen, even at national events.  The Marti report indicates that this vehicle is only 1 of 21 ever produced with this factory colour and trim combination and only 1 of 30 ever produced with this engine and transmission combination.  In summary, this vehicle is a triple threat in terms of performance, styling and rarity.  Perhaps more importantly, this GT350 serves as a time capsule for the legend himself, Carroll Shelby, crafting a renowned racehorse out of a Mustang.
