Built for a single model year to satisfy SCCA Trans Am homologation rules, the 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A remains one of the most desirable Mopars ever produced. With only 2,399 examples built, the T/A combined striking styling, competition-bred engineering, and the high-winding 340 Six-Pack engine. This particular example rises to the top of the class thanks to its show-quality rotisserie restoration, desirable FE5 Rallye Red finish, four-speed manual transmission, and an exceptional suite of original documentation, making it a truly standout collector-grade car.
Power comes from the E55 340ci Six-Pack V8, factory-rated at 290 horsepower and equipped with triple Holley carburetors. Exclusive T/A features include the N94 fiberglass fresh-air hood, N44 side-exit exhaust, heavy-duty suspension, fast-ratio steering, and the famous staggered wheel and tire setup developed from the Trans Am racing program. The desirable D21 four-speed manual enhances the T/A’s competition-oriented character.
Completed on April 3rd, 1970 at the Hamtramck, Michigan plant, this T/A was exceptionally well optioned from new. Exterior features include the A53 Trans Am Package, A44 rear-window louver package, J45 hood tie-down pins, J82 ducktail rear spoiler, J68 rear backlight louvers, G36 dual racing mirrors, and the correct V6H black longitudinal T/A striping. Finished in FE5 Rallye Red with a contrasting black vinyl top, the car presents one of the most aggressive and desirable visual combinations available in 1970.
The interior is equally well equipped with H5X9 high-trim houndstooth bucket seats, C16 woodgrain console, and the A62 Rallye Instrument Cluster with N85 tachometer. Additional factory equipment includes B51 power brakes, 26-inch heavy-duty radiator, and the R35 AM/FM stereo radio.
The rotisserie restoration was performed to exceptional standards, with the underside, drivetrain, interior, body, and finishes restored to high-level authenticity.
