In 1970, Dodge introduced what would be perhaps their most iconic and desired Muscle Car, the Challenger. Although built on the same platform as it’s also very sought after sibling from Plymouth, the Barracuda, the cars actually share very few body components but have similar body lines and style. What would a MOPAR muscle car be without their legendary drivetrains? All were present and accounted for on the Challenger order form from the 383 & 440 Magnums to the 440 6 pack and, of course, the vaunted 426 street HEMI.

This 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE possesses all the qualities found in the most enticing features available from the factory, most notably its matching-numbers 426/425 HP Hemi V-8, all restored to concours-grade factory OEM specifications. One of just 37 built in model year 1970, this rare R/T SE’s original Hemi powerplant, complete with dual inline Carter 4-barrel carburetors and dual exhaust, is accompanied by a heavy-duty TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission and the A32 Super Performance Package that adds a 7-blade fan, heavy-duty radiator and a 4.10:1 Dana 60 9.75-inch rear end. The visual presentation impresses with code-B7 Dark Blue Metallic paint, accented with a blue interior, the white-vinyl roof and a smaller rear window that are part of the SE trim package. The R/T package also includes this car’s heavy-duty suspension and brakes—in this case with power front discs—a performance dual-scoop hood with hold-down pins, a Rallye instrument cluster and 15x7-inch Rallye wheels with Goodyear F60-15 Polyglas GT tires. The SE option was the top trim package, adding even more appeal to this superb Hemi Challenger. While leather bucket seats were standard SE fare, this example was produced with optional cloth and vinyl units along with a center console and Slapstick shifter, A01 Light Package, Solid State AM/FM radio and wood-grain accents.
