  Dodge's answer to the Mustang created the "Pony Car" segment. Introduced for the 1970 model year, it was one of two Chrysler E-body cars, the other being the slightly smaller Plymouth Barracuda/Cuda. Competition was fierce in the muscle car war and both these cars were available in a staggering number of trim and option levels as well as virtually every engine in Chrysler's inventory. Chrysler intended the new 1970 Dodge to be the most potent pony car ever and positioned it to compete against the Mercury Cougar, Pontiac Firebird and other more luxury-type muscle cars. Dodge differed enough from the Plymouth in its outer sheet metal just like the Cougar differed from the shorter-wheelbase Ford Mustang. The Challenger was available as a two-door in either a hardtop coupe or a convertible body design. There were two models for its introductory year - base model Challenger and Challenger R/T. 

  This beautifully restored 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T left the factory on August 29th, 1969 with the optional “V” code 440 Six pack under the hood. Shifting duties are handled by a Pistol grip 4-speed manual transmission sending power to the optional Super Trak Pak 4.10 rear end. The factory high-impact Go Mango paint is complemented with a factory Black bumblebee stripe. The interior was optioned in Burnt Orange with bucket seats with no console and just the iconic pistol grip shifter between the seats. Other options include Power Brakes, Hood Pins, Roof Drip Moldings, Dual Exhaust With Chrome Tips, Hood Stripe And Am Radio. 

  The quality of this restoration is top notch with no details overlooked. Finishes and details are done to replicate like it came off the assembly line. The body was block sanded and prepped for a beautiful base/clear paint job that was then wet sanded and polished to a show quality luster. Under the hood, the engine has been painted in the correct color and all other components detailed. Underneath is even detailed with correct primer and body color overspray. Suspension and drivetrain components have been detailed with correct inspection markings. This truly a concours style restoration that is ready to be shown at any car show. 

  It of course comes fully documented including with the factory Broadcast sheet and photos during restoration and at its completion. Since it was finished the car has seen only test mileage to ensure the car both functions as well as it appears.
