Chrysler was the last of the “big 3” to join the pony car market with the introduction of the “E-body” platform. The brand-new Dodge Challenger and remodelled Plymouth Barracuda introduced in 1970 and produced through 1974, are now among the most collectable muscle cars from that era. What differentiated the Challenger from its competitors was the various classes of trim that were offered. A total of 10 different engine packages from the basic Mopar slant-6 up through small block and big blocks including mighty Mopar 440. The R/T package was only offered by Dodge for the 1970 and 1971 model years and the U code 440 Magnum engine was only offered in the 1970 R/T and R/T SE packages.

This original model year, 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T was built at Dodge Main in Hamtramck, MI for USA order and scheduled for production on April 8, 1970. It is equipped with the numbers matching U Code 440 Magnum engine with a 4-barrel carb. Power is delivered through a numbers matching 4 speed manual transmission making this one of 916 Challengers delivered with that drive train combination. This very nicely restored Challenger is finished in its factory exterior TX9 Black, with a high grade white interior trim. The car is well equipped with options including the desirable A33 Track Pak option, basic group including power steering, power brakes, front disk brakes, light group, racing mirrors, luggage rack, rim blow steering wheel and more. The car is documented with two broadcast sheets, dealer bill of sale and original dealer window sticker. The white vinyl top with the rare factory luggage rack give this car a classic touring appearance.
