Rare Unrestored Original LS6 454/450hp 4 Speed

One of the aspects that make the cars of the muscle era so interesting was the ability to order a car exactly how you wanted it down to the specifics. Sometimes it required a smart dealer with special ordering prowness, the most famous example of this being Chevrolets COPO program making 427 engine available to people who knew how to check the right boxes. But also, lesser known is the ability to order special colours, trim pieces to a car that most of the public never thought possible. These rare and unique cars make for some of the best collector cars today. And when these unique options are on a car with a high horsepower big block and being documented, you end up with one very special and very collectable car. The Chevelle presented here is such a car!!

This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS started life rolling down the assembly line in Baltimore Maryland . The options listed on the buildsheet make it quite special, most notably being the LS6 454/450hp engine, "Rock Crusher" M22 4 speed, posi rear axle, power brakes and of course the F41 suspension to keep the LS6 in line. But the real unique part is under section 44 of the build sheet, the colour, where it lists "C" for custom order and a hand written note describing the applied Carolina Blue paint to compliment the white interior. To this day, that is how the car remains, with its original factory applied Carolina Blue paint, black vinyl top with white stripes and white vinyl interior, all showing just the right amount of patina on a beautifully preserved body. The original numbers matching LS6 has recently been rebuilt and runs strong and the 4 speed makes the unmistakable noise of an M22. This unique Chevelle has been featured in multiple magazines and continues to turn heads wherever it shows up raising the eyebrows of even the best educated Chevelle aficionados. A trait it certainly has had since being delivered new at Y.Z. Foss Chevrolet in North Carolina .
