1969 442 Hurst Olds - Documented Original, Factory Air Conditioning, Very Rare

LMC proudly presents this very rare ’69 Hurst/Olds for sale.

During the late Sixties, there was an ever-growing demand for Big-Block V8 engines and the tarmac-tearing torque they generated. Another hot ticket on the street was the combination of ground pounding high performance with luxury and Oldsmobile delivered a winner with the special-edition performance version of the 442. For this second model year the non-drivetrain modifications were again done at Demmer Engineering to the specifications of Jack “Doc” Watson of Hurst Performance. Today the limited production Hurst/Olds is extremely rare and highly desirable by collectors.

This ’69 Hurst Olds is a true muscle car gem for those searching for a very original well preserved  with less than 45,000 miles. Fully documented originals are difficult to find and today are becoming more in demand as car collectors begin to really appreciate the feel, sound, sight senses and rarity provided by the factory original car's production line fit and finish – almost impossible to retain or achieve in total restorations. This H/O has been meticulously cared for and represents the ultimate "Gentleman's Hot Rod" from Oldsmobile. The biggest change in the second model year was the switch from the Silver/Black paint scheme to the new bold Firefrost Gold racing stripes on Cameo White paint scheme. The factory paint is accentuated by the factory hand-applied Black pinstripes. Instead of the dual ram air scoops under the front bumper this edition of the Hurst received a functional "mailbox" fiberglass hood scoop with H/O 455 on each side advertising what lurked under the hood. The dual inlet functional hood force fed cold air to the hungry heart throb of this Hurst/Olds which is complete with its numbers matching 455 cu. in. Rocket V8 producing 380 horsepower. This power plant is linked to the factory Turbo 400 transmission with the famed console-mounted Hurst Dual-Gate Shifter also known as the “His & Hers” shifter. This permitted automatic or manually ratcheted shifting to get the tires to perform the magic on the pavement and the big dual bell-shaped exhaust pipes snarling the song of power. The rear deck free-standing spoiler was to create fifteen pounds of downforce at 60 mph to assist the bright chrome SSII Mag-Type steel wheels mounted on period correct Goodyear Polyglas tires grab the asphalt. Exterior still has excellent chrome and stainless with great reflective gleam. Inside the original condition luxurious and sophisticated all Black interior one would expect of an H/O with large buckets finished in a very unique and appealing pattern and Gold-Trimmed Head Restraints. Rocket Rally-Pac instruments included a Tic-Toc-Tachometer. Other features within the $638.94 Hurst Package included the English style Dual Racing Mirrors, Blacked-out grill and special Hurst/Olds Emblems to tell all challengers on the street just what they were up against. This all original H/O also has Power Front Disc Brakes, Power Windows, AM/FM Radio, Factory 8-Track and extremely rare Factory Air Conditioning.

Next Owner will be provided wonderful support documentation like the Original Build Sheet, Owner’s Manual, H/O Dealer Pamphlet, Hurst Tune-up Specifications, Olds Service Manual, Wiring Diagram Manual, B&W Factory Photographs and Hurst Heritage book. The underside of the trunk and an H/O Licence Plate have been signed by both Doc Watson and Linda Vaughn.

Over the past several years, “Hagerty’s Cars That Matter” has observed unrestored cars sell for prices that would have astonished in the recent past. Preservation Classes are being added to concours nationwide to showcase well preserved and mostly unrestored, un-refinished, and unaltered cars. The old car hobby is headed in the direction of the fine art, decorative arts, and antique furniture markets, where a premium is placed on originality.

The ’69 Hurst/Olds looked fabulous and was able to show its taillights to most competitors. Extremely rare and highly desirable, this very original H/O is a treasure for any Oldsmobile fan.
