In recent history with the large amount of interest in muscle cars as collectibles, the rare combinations of models and drivetrains have created some very valuable pieces. The rarest being the convertible models equipped with top of the line drivetrains such as HEMI Cuda’s or LS6 equipped Chevelle convertibles. In the Ford camp, it is the drag pack equipped Mustangs, or Super Cobra Jets as they are referred to.

This 1969 Shelby GT500 SCJ was built at the Dearnborn Assembly Plant on May, 23, 1969 and shipped to BJ Werner Inc in Garfield, New Jersey. It is a true “R” Code 428-4V CJ Ram Air Shelby with the four-speed close ratio transmission. It was factory finished in a Grabber Blue exterior with a Black Clarion Knit/Corinthian Vinyl Bucket Seat interior. Other factory options on this GT500 include; 3.91 Traction-Lok Differential, Sport Deck Rear Seat, AM Radio, Deluxe Belts/Warning Light, Power Front Disc Brakes, and Power Steering. Today, this very special Factory Drag Pack Shelby is powered by its professionally rebuilt numbers matching 428 engine, its RUG-AE2 4-speed transmission, and dawns its restored factory correct Grabber Blue exterior with Black Clarion Knit/Corinthian Vinyl interior. Accompanying this beautiful Super Cobra Jet is a large amount of documentation that includes; several letters to and from the SAAC about this car, a full Marti Report, a letter from Ford decoding the vin, a shipping invoice from Shelby, an original build sheet, original booklets and information pamphlets, original stickers and plates, oil change stickers from 1969 and 1970, and old pictures of the car.
