Factory "R" Code 428 Cobra Jet

With the introduction of the Cobra Jet 428 in 1968, Ford had a genuine muscle car in their stable with the Mustang. 1969 saw the introduction of a new model to help promote the new Cobra Jet engine outside of a Shelby, the Mach 1. Base engines started with their other new engine, the small block 351, next was the venerable 390 engine and then the top of the line 428 Cobra Jet now with Ram Air in the form of a shaker hood scoop. With special striping, a blacked out hood and the new for '69 styling they were an aggressive car with performance to back up that image.

This 1969 Mustang Mach 1 presents itself today just as it did when it rolled off the Metuchen assembly line on January 13, 1969. Finished in Acapulco Blue paint it goes well with the blacked out theme of the Mach 1.
