1969 Chevrolet Nova SS

LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1969 Chevrolet Nova SS.

Chevrolet produced the Chevy II/Nova through the years of 1962 to 1979, then again through 1985 to 1988. Over the years the Chevy II/Nova had many different appearances and models ranging from a 2 door coupe, to a 4 door station wagon. It also had many different engine options ranging from a 90HP 153 cu in L4, to a 375HP L78, which made the Nova a popular choice for families and drag racers alike. In 1968, Chevrolet introduced the Super Sport option that solidified the Nova’s muscle car presence.

This 1969 Chevrolet Nova SS was built in the Willow Run, Michigan plant in the first week of January in 1969. It was then delivered to Rapp Chevrolet Inc. in Marion, South Dakota and sold to its first caretaker, Arthur F. Schaefer of Monroe, South Dakota for a total price of $3,007.56. The Nova is still finished with its factory Dover White exterior. Under the hood it came factory equipped with the rare and desirable L78 Turbo Jet 396 V8 that puts out 375HP. The power from the L78 is sent to the wheels through the even more rare M40 Turbo Hydra-Matic Transmission. This Nova SS is also equipped with the factory Special Purpose Suspension, and Positraction rear axle. 1969 was the first year that SS Nova’s came standard with front disc brakes. Some of the history of this Nova is recorded through documents such as the original build sheet, copies of the original invoice from Rapp Chevrolet Inc., the shipping data report from NCRS Historic Document Services, old invoices of service and parts, the original owner’s manual and jacking instructions, vintage photos of the Nova with its first caretaker, and a CD with 243 files including; photos of the restoration, videos of the car running, and scanned copies of various documents.
