1969 Corvette Original L71 437/435hp Roadster
Original Paint Unrestored Fully Documented 435hp
In recent years as the restorations of classic cars have gotten to the point of being better than new. Where restorers are so focused on accuracy they are even re-creating what many would have previously considered flaws in the original build of a car. Over spray in particular areas, drip marks, chalk markings, and weld marks have all become items people want to see in a finished product. The most interesting cars of all are now proving to be the original, un-restored examples. Showing all their features and flaws like badges of honour, nicks and scratches become signs of patina from the years of enjoyment. What really makes them interesting is how few remain and that the old statement "they aren't making them anymore" truly applies.
Presented here is an absolutely special 1969 Chevrolet Corvette roadster and it certainly has a tremendous amount going for it from a collectability standpoint. As it is still wearing its desirable original factory applied LeMans blue paint and also still fitted with the original blue interior. The story of this car begins in late July 1969 when a Mr. Eslinger ordered this Corvette from Byrne Bros. Chevrolet. It was just as you see it today, numbers matching L71 427/435hp engine ,Muncie4 speed transmission and all the options anyone would want with a big block Corvette such as the very desirable factory side mount exhaust and rally wheels, which still sport the period tires. He selected a white convertible soft top and also elected to get the optional body color hard top. Mr. Eslinger would be the care taker of his beloved Corvette that he bought new until 2010, 41 years of memories, but it was time to pass on ownership of the car to a collector who, with an eye for originality, had to have it. After much scrutiny of the car and with everything being in order, with some gentle negotiations the time had come for the car move on to its second owner. A close examination of the car shows it has clearly been well maintained and cared for it remains extremely complete right down to the factory smog equipment.. A little more digging and you can find the tank sticker still in place on top of the gas tank just wear GM had placed it, the original Protect-O-Plate still with the car and much more. The L71 Corvette was the big option motor of its day and as such was often used hard making this original example that much more special indeed!! This fact coupled with the complete documentation and great provenance all combine to make it a almost once in a lifetime opportunity for the collector or enthusiast to acquire such very special original piece of Corvette history.
