Unlike today, when ordering a car it is a simple process of choosing which predetermined package will suit your needs best In the days of the original muscle cars, one could tailor make a car exactly as they wanted. What many Chevrolet customers of the time did not realize was that there were many other, unadvertised options available; all you needed was the right person, to know the right codes to put on that spec sheet. One of such options was RPO code L89, taking the already very impressive 396/375hp solid lifter motor, and giving it aluminum heads.

Sold new at Harry Mann Chevrolet in Los Angeles California on October 17th 1968, this beautiful 1969 Camaro SS/RS is an excellent example of a car with handpicked options. One would think this car is likely 1 of 1 with this engine and in the factory Daytona Yellow with Parchment vinyl roof, white side stripes with deluxe bucket interior in the very desirable Ivory hounds tooth pattern with fold down rear seat. Add the optional floor console with Hurst shifter and the very rarely seen fiber optic light monitoring system with fender mounted indicators, it shows an image of class and sophistication.  

The Rally Sport front grill shows no clues to the incredible big block hidden under the hood. Complete with the numbers matching 396/375 hp engine and the desirable L89 aluminum heads, only 311 Camaros were produced with this motor, making it even  more rare and desirable. Paired with its numbers matching M21 Muncie 4 speed transmission and BU coded 3.73 rear end with power brakes and steering. This car has been very nicely maintained and cared for throughout the years and was recently has gone through a complete no expense spared nut and bolt rotisserie restoration.
