1969 Camaro Z28 / RS
Numbers Matching DZ302
In most muscle car buyers eyes the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 was maybe not the fastest Camaro of its day, but arguably the most desirable of all. You got one by adding $458 to the $2,726 base price of a Camaro coupe, RPO Z28 included the F41 handling suspension with E70X15 raised-letter tires on seven-inch wide rims, quicker steering, and twin rally stripes. The solid-lifter DZ302-cid V-8 with an 850-cfm four-barrel carburetor was again exclusive to the Z/28. Dynamometer tests at the time, made a joke of its 290-horsepower rating. As Trans Am titles in 1968 and '69 showed, the Z/28 was a road-racer first, a street machine second. Drivers who understood its bare-knuckle character bought 7,199 of them for '68, and sales nearly tripled for the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 a record that would stand until 1978.
Finished in the desirable factory colour of Dusk Blue with white stripes and blue comfort weave interior, this Z/28 has reportedly only traveled 57,599 miles since new as was reported when it was featured in All Chevy magazine. The car has benefited from a nut and bolt restoration, but shows to have been an exceptional car prior to the work being completed. Since then, the car has been collector owned and as such, beautifully maintained. It is equipped with the numbers matching DZ302 engine backed by a numbers matching Muncie 4 speed transmission and 12 bolt rear differential. This Camaro is a very well optioned example, most notably equipped with the very desirable Rally Sport package featuring the hideaway headlights. Other options on the car include console/console gauge package, factory tach, tilt steering column with rosewood wheel, low fuel warning light and headlight washers and chrome bumper guards. It also has power disc front brakes, dual exhaust system that sounds fantastic and even the correct smog system installed on the car. The Camaro comes with magazine articles about it and documents outlining previous work done with information about the restoration details with pictures. If you're looking for a beautifully restored 1969 Z/28 that is equally at home as part of a collection or ready to drive and enjoy - don't miss this chance.
