1968 Maserati Quattroporte

LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1968 Maserati Quattroporte 

  The Quattroporte was introduced at the October-November 1963 Turin Motor Show, where a pre-production prototype was on the Maserati stand next to the Mistral coupé. Regular production began in 1964. The Tipo 107 Quattroporte joined two other grand tourers, the Facel Vega and the Lagonda Rapide and was capable of travelling at 124mph on the new motorways in Europe. It was equipped with a 4.1-litre, V8 engine, producing 260hp at 5000rpm and either a five-speed ZF manual transmission or a three-speed Borg Warner automatic on request. Sales never reached the anticipated volumes, and by the time production ceased only 679 examples of the Quattroporte Tipo 107 and 107/A had been produced.

  This left-hand drive Series II Quattroporte is fitted with the 4.1 litre engine and was delivered on September 17th, 1968 in Savignano sul Rubicone, Italy. Recently it has undergone a complete no-expense spared restoration by a Classiche certified Ferrari/Maserati dealer and looks as it did on the showroom floor in 1968. It was finished in factory Luci Di Mezzanotte paint that has been wet sanded and polished to a show quality luster. The interior was refinished in the original Senape Tan leather and the quality is absolutely stunning. The engine and driveline have been completely gone through and detailed back to oem specifications. This stunning grand tourer comes complete with a full set of documents right from the Maserati factory, some of which includes; original order form, delivery note, Maserati S.p.A certificate of origin and more.  Also included in the sale are a mountain of receipts for the restoration from the Ferrari/Maserati dealer. 

  In period the Quattroporte was Swift and luxurious, necessarily expensive, with initial ownership confined to a relative handful of wealthy connoisseurs. This example is certainly one of the finest restored examples anywhere and comes fully documented with paperwork directly from the factory and restoration invoices. This presents an opportunity to own a unique automobile that would be a conversation piece at any show, while being fun grand tourer .
