LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1968 Lamborghini Miura S
Since its arrival in 1966, the Lamborghini Miura has been an icon of automotive design, being regarded as one of the most beautiful cars ever built and the first ever Supercar. The beautifully sculpted body was penned by the young Marcello Gandini, the newly appointed head designer at Bertone. The powertrain was a mid-mounted 3.9-litre V12 that provided the car with excellent weight distribution, superb handling and world class performance. The 1968 P400 S was an improved iteration on the original P400 with small changes that made the car faster and more luxurious
This stunning Miura S offered here for sale has remained in highly original condition with only 7,800km on the odometer, having had barely a handful of owners. Originally sold new by Italian dealer Eugenio Ferranti of Foligno, Perugia and according to factory and Bertone records it was delivered in a vibrant Rosso Corsa with Skay Nero interior and blue cloth seat inserts – the configuration in which it is presented today.
As per the original bill of sale which was stamped and notarized as was Italian practice for decades, shows that Ferranti sold the new car to Mrs Maria Germagnoli of Piacenza for the considerable sum of Lire 6,920,368. A second, notarised bill of sale documents ownership passing from Mrs Germagnoli to Giulio Vignale, nephew of coachbuilder Alfredo Vignale, resident in Turin, for Lire 5,000,000.
To all intents and purposes, Vignale bought a brand-new Miura S and It remained in his ownership, unregistered, undriven and unseen. Mr Vignale sold the car in summer 2008, confirmed by copies of documents accompanying the car that reveal on 8 July 2008, Giulio Vignale of via Campobasso, 26, Turin, gave a sale mandate for the car to a veteran Italian dealer. The Miura would then be sold in 2014 with the help of a Swiss dealer to a very distinguished car collector. The new owner decided to restore this Miura S back to its original glory, entrusting some of the world's best marque experts.
Italian restorer Top Motors looked after all mechanical areas while all body and paintwork were entrusted to Carrozzeria Cremonini. During the restoration, it soon became apparent that although nearly five decades had passed since it was first delivered to Eugenio Ferranti, this Miura S still showed a wealth of original detail. The skilled technicians were surprised at the almost ‘time- warp’ condition of the car and have done everything possible to keep these details intact.
As a testament to this example’s incredible provenance, this Miura S is by far the most documented example we have come across and comes accompanied by the following:
- Certificato di Origine. Dated 21-11-68. The 1968 document that certifies the authenticity of chassis 3832.
- Certificato di assistenza in garanzia, with Tagliando A, B and C. The factory guarantee form and three white dockets for 3,000km 8,000km and 15,000km service intervals. These are perforated for tear-off by the service agent, but amazingly are still intact.
- Certificato di Approvazione. Dated 29-11-68. Certificate of roadworthiness.
- Declarations of sale. Two typed and notarised letters confirming the sale of the car first from Lamborghini dealership Ferranti (Foligno, Perugia) to Maria Germagnoli (Piacenza), then from Mrs Germagnoli to Giulio Vignale (Turin).
- Original yellow-cover owner’s manual for the Miura P400 S.
- Original emergency door window and headlight winders.
This wonderful Miura S represents an unique opportunity to buy a reference standard Miura S fresh from a concours level restoration and accompanied by a wealth of rare period documentation, one of the best Miura’s we have ever come across!
