Documented "King of the Road" Cobra Jet

Mid way through the 1968 model year, Ford introduced what would become one of its most famous engines, the 428 Cobra Jet. It was an upgraded version of the previously available Police Interceptor 428. Of course this meant that the GT500 from Shelby was going to be upgraded as well and with that it required some name change to signify the upgrade. The GT500 KR was released with KR signifying of course the legendary "King of the Road".

Sold new at Jack Loftus Ford this 1968 Shelby GT500 KR is finished in the very attractive Candy Apply Red with black deluxe interior. It is of course powered by the 428 Cobra Jet engine with a 4 speed Top Loader transmission. The rear axle is filled with 3.50 traction lok differential, just as it was when new. This KR is optioned with power steering, power front disc brakes, sport deck rear seat and the interior décor group. Of course this car comes with full documentation courtesy of Marti Auto Works and is also listed in the Shelby American Registry. The KR has always been a top of the line muscle car, brutal power but with all the options.
