Cars from the muscle car era are often interesting pieces for a multitude of reasons. Some people often have a difficult time understanding why a car can be so "rare" or "unique", after all Ford did produce over 317,000 Mustangs in 1968! But it was the ability of the consumer to order a car just the way they wanted it that created some very special cars. This has lead to some very valuable collector cars particularly when a top of the line engine option is combined with a desirable body style such as a convertible.

Presented here is a 1968 Ford Mustang convertible made very special by the factory "S" code 390 V8 engine and factory 4 speed transmission. Most ordering a big block wanted it for speed and convertibles were rarely looked upon as candidates for such duties. Of the 317,000 produced that year, only 493 of them came off the assembly line, approximately 0.1%  that were equipped with the 390 and 4 speed!! More factory options on this car include power disc brakes, console, blacked out hood treatment, power convertible top and of course heavy duty suspension. Add to that; all the GT features, power steering, Air Conditioning system and you get an exceptionally special car. It is of course documented with a Deluxe Marti Report showcasing exactly how it rolled off the Dearborn assembly line on January 24, 1968on its way to being sold new at Forsyth Motors in Rockmart GA. Today the car has been very nicely restored in its factory correct livery of Meadowlark Yellow with black interior and presents itself as well as it drives. A very attractive and incredibly rare Big Block 4 speed convertible.
