For 1968 Chevrolet took on the challenge of releasing a fresh, new Corvette. Redesigning such a popular model is always a challenge and the new Corvette would prove to be a major departure from the incredibly popular 1967 model. For 1968 the available drivetrain options would remain largely the same but the body style and interior were major changes.

On February 15, 1968a Mr. Leach walked into Roberts and Redfield Chevrolet in Portland Oregon and ordered a brand new Chevrolet Corvette coupe. Looking at the original order form hand written out he specified the L36 427/390hp engine with TH400 automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, posi rear axle, tinted glass, AM/FM radio and telescopic steering wheel on a car finished in LeMans Blue paint with black interior. It is also noted on the order form that the purchaser is a very particular customer and that extra attention should be put towards the body and paint to ensure it is done to the highest standard! One thing is for certain when inspecting the car today, he must has been very particular about his car, as well as all owners that would follow him as it remains in exquisite original condition today undoubtedly due to the care and attention it has received since June 10^th of 1968 when it was finally delivered new. Since then it is remarkable how well the car presents itself. The original factory applied LeMans Blue paint shows beautifully, open the hood or doors and you can clearly see the factory glue on the door seals, the interior is void of any rips, tears or major wear, the numbers matching 427/390hp engine is complete with all its equipment and attached to the numbers matching transmission. Along with the car is a full list of documentation including but not limited to the original bill of sale and previously mentioned order form, both with signed receipts for the deposit and final payment; original Protect-O-Plate, original tank sticker removed and preserved, owners manual, Corvette owner card in original owners names and even photos of the car dating back to 1968. Only making this cars history that much more complete was a trip to an NCRS meet where it was given the coveted Top Flight award.
