The Mercury Cougar was always the lost cousin to the ever popular Ford Mustang.  Introduced alongside the first redesign of the Mustang in 1967, the Cougar was built on the same platform, offered many of the same available power train options, a longer list of available features and was directed at being a more upscale and luxurious version of the sporty Pony car. Although in many ways a much better car than the Mustang, the Cougars popularity never caught on like its famous cousin and as such right up until today they remain an incredible bang for your buck; Mustang performance with more unique and upscale looks.

This particular 1967 Mercury Cougar rolled off the Dearborn assembly plant on April 24, 1967 and was shipped out two days later to R-J Lincoln Mercury in Sacramento California to be sold new. The Nordic Blue XR7 hard top was well optioned including blue leather interior, power steering, console and automatic transmission channeling the power from the "A" code 289 4bbl engine to the rear wheels. Going by the information provided by the excellent documentation with the car in the form of original owner information and copies of original title renewals, it would remain inCaliforniafor the majority of its life also spending sometime inNevadabefore being purchased and treated to a well deserved restoration. The car required very little as the original body remained in excellent condition due to the warm climate. The car was stripped to the bare metal and a fresh coat of Nordic Blue paint was applied and polished to a beautiful finish. Today the car continues to show the unique and styling lines of the Cougar body beautifully. The "A" code 289 4 bbl engine starts/runs strong and the car is a joy to drive. It of course comes with a Deluxe Marti Report and the previously mentioned original owners manual with original purchaser information, copies of original title renewals and photos detailing the restoration. A great car to be purchased and enjoyed for many years to come.
