1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Meticulous LMC Restoration

In 1967 Ford unveiled the first redesign to their Mustang. In response to the release of Chevrolet Camaro, Ford ensured they could now fit a big block engine into their Pony car, Shelby quicker jumped at this opportunity and found a way to offer the 428 cubic in Police Interceptor engine in a car he would market as the GT500. This would also be the last year that Shelby would be producing his own cars at his Los Angeles assembly plant making the 1967 GT500 both the beginning and the end of something special!

Built a few days before Christmas 1966, this factory Nightmist Blue 1967 Shelby GT500 was sent to Don Wagner Ford to be sold new. Optioned as many Shelby's were for 1967 it has power steering, power disc brakes, fold down rear seat, tach and of course the extra cooling package for the big 428 PI engine. Recently the car was deemed deserving of a complete rotisserie restoration and the owner at the time having seen some of the award winning restorations to come out of the shop here at Legendary Motorcar entrusted us with bringing his Shelby back to as new, or in this case better than new condition. The end results speak for themselves. From the fully detailed undercarriage in red oxide primer with body colour overspray and the factory replicated primer drip markings to the detailed engine bay filled by the correct 428 PI Dual Quad motor and fully wet sanded/polished Nightmist blue paint, this car is absolutely stunning. The attention to detail is excellent with even the correct tags on the carburetors and all correctly corresponding Shelby/Ford numbers. The dark exterior is offset perfectly by the beautiful white vinyl interior and the look is just right with the Goodyear tires on MagStar wheels and inboard mounted lights. The panel fitment on the car is exceptional with even the notoriously bad fitting fiberglass hood and decklid lining up with accuracy. The Shelby is fully documented including Marti Report, listed in the Shelby registry, invoices for some previous work done to the car dating back to the 90's, old copies of registration renewals and of course a full photo diary of the restoration performed here at Legendary Motorcar. This Shelby represents a great opportunity for someone to acquire a very high quality, freshly restored example not only one of the most sought after muscle cars of all time, but also the last of the famous California built Shelby Mustangs.
