1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Fully Restored SAAC Award Winner

1967 was a big year for both the Ford Mustang and its Shelby variant. The major redesign of the Mustang came with a slightly larger body and in turn allowed for a big block engine to be offered. Not content with the 390 being offered in the standard Mustang, Carroll Shelby saw fit to install a dual quad equipped 428 Police Interceptor engine. With that the GT500 was born and to many has been the epitome of Mustang performance ever since.

Presented here is a beautifully restored, factory 1967 Shelby GT500. After final assembly was completed at Shelby 's LA Assembly Plant, this GT500 was shipped to Burns Ford in Louisville KY to be sold. By September of 1967 it had found a home where after several years of use, it would end up in storage in the mid 1970's and ultimately be acquired by its most recent owner in 2005. At this point a very thorough three year restoration began. Finished in its factory correct colour of Lime Gold with black interior, this Shelby features inboard driving lights and 10 spoke wheels along with the added white stripes Shelbys have become so well known for. The motor is the correct date coded dual quad 428 PI engine with the original stamped 4 speed Top Loader transmission. The attention to detail on this car is excellent, a close inspection of the undercarriage shows correct red-oxide primer with body colour over spray, paint daubs and markings replicating those of the factory and all the right weld marks throughout. The car has most recently received accolades through SAAC after being judged at one of their events. Of course this Shelby is documented with a Marti Report, is listed in the Shelby registry and is complete with its Shelby VIN tag in place. This meticulously restored, award winning Shelby would make a great addition to any collection. It has history, documentation and is in show quality condition; a great example of the first generation GT500.
