1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

1967 was a big year for Fords Mustang and in turn for the Shelby line up. The first ever body change to the Mustang meant a more aggressive appearance, the first real competition in the form of the Camaro and Firebird were coming out and the larger front end could now accommodate a big block Ford motor. Shelby introduced the GT-500, a 428 equipped Mustang ready to take on the competition. Over time, the Shelby GT-500 has become to many the epitome of Mustang performance.

With assembly completed May 29, 19 67 by Ford Motor Company, this car was sent off to Shelby's Los Angeles plant to finish the transformation to a Shelby GT-500 before making its way to the original selling dealer, Pletcher Ford Sales Ltd. Finished in desirable Nightmight Blue, this car has a fantastic, clean look with the white Shelby side stripes and black interior complete with the Shelby roll bar and shoulder harnesses. Equipped with the dual quad 428 Police Interceptor engine and a 4 speed transmission, Decoding from the Shelby Registry shows that this GT-500 was equipped just as it is today, with Goodyear tires on Mag-Star wheels, outboard and the requisite Shelby options such as a fold down rear seat, power steering and power brakes. The list of features continues with functional brake scoops and traction lock rear differential. This Shelby has previously benefited from a complete restoration and most recently has been a part of a collection and carefully housed in a fully climate controlled environment. This GT-500 is listed on page 1102 in the Shelby Registry and comes with a Marti Report showcasing the way it was initially assembled.
