As the muscle era ramped up, the introduction of the Mustangs first real competitor, the Chevrolet Camaro, time called for a big block Mustang, as with before, Carroll Shelby was ready to boost Mustangs performance reputation. The introduction of the 1967 Shelby GT500 was the first time a 428 engine would be available in a Mustang, which turned out to work so well, Ford itself would soon follow suit. This beautiful 1967 Shelby GT500 is a terrific example of the model.

Two days after Christmas of 1966, a Moss Green fastback rolled off the Ford San Jose assembly line destined for Shelby's California plant. Less than three months later the new Shelby GT500 was shipped to its original selling dealer Hemphill-McCombs Ford in San AntonioTexas. As with all '67 Shelby GT500's this particular car was well equipped including power steering, power front disc brakes, tach, extra cooling package and the fold down rear seat, just as the car still presents today. The car has been very well restored and continues to show well right down to the correct 428 Dual Quad motor. The contrasting appearance of the dark Moss Green paint with white Shelby side striping complements by the MagStar wheels give the car a great look. This car also comes with complete documentation in the form of a Deluxe Marti Report and also listed in the Shelby World Registry. 1967 was the last year that Shelby himself was in charge of building the Shelby GT Mustangs and the first year for the big block GT500 model.
