In the Corvette world, three models have dominated the collector market: the 1957 with fuel injection, the 1963 Split-Window Sting Ray with fuel injection, and the 1967 Sting Ray with the top horsepower 427 engines. Other years may have offered better performance, superior features, or better styling, but these three tops the value list. Demand for the 1967 427 Sting Ray has resulted in this model hitting the sweet spot of performance and style. The big news for 1967 were the five 427 monsters on the option list. All new for 1967 was the 400-hp L68, essentially an L36 with the addition of the new 3×2-barrel tri-carb setup. Like the L36, the L68 could be had with automatic transmission and air conditioning. This engine package wasn’t designed for buyers who wanted all out horsepower but, for the discerning buyer who wanted the best grand tourer. Although it’s unknown how many L68 A/C cars were built, if you figure that only 3,788 Corvettes were built with a/c in 1967 and only 2,101 total L68’s were produced, it would make sense that only a handful were equipped with that option making it one of the rarest Corvettes ever produced!

This beautifully restored Corvette is powered by a numbers matching 427 CI big-block  engine, in this case the L68 version with triple Holley 2-barrel tri-power carburetion. Designated L68, that hydraulic-cammed 427/400 HP big-block drives the 1967 Corvette offered here through a Muncie M21 close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission.  This beautifully restored 1967 Corvette was configured in code 988 Marlboro Maroon with black interior. This Corvette comes equipped with four-season air conditioning, Posi-traction rear axle, side exit exhaust, optional bolt on wheels with redline tires, AM/FM radio, tinted glass, power brakes and power steering.

The 1967 big block Corvette was and remains to this day the high-water mark in Corvette styling and collectibility. This is the Corvette for the discriminating collector who wants the ultimate grand touring big block Corvette.
