Ford conquered the racing world in the late 1960's with their Legendary GT40's taking victories in LeMans. Just as is the case with Cobra's it is often said "imitation is the best form of flattery", as such there is a strong following of replica GT40's to this day. Among the most highly regarded is manufactured by a company called Cape Advanced Vehicles. Their GT40's are a beautiful modernization of the original showing many original characteristics while involving modern design and manufacturing techniques making for one of the most unique and useable GT40's available today.

Finished in the famous Gulf Livery as an homage the earlier racecars, this CAV GT40 was beautifully put together with a great attention to detail right down to the "7" in the roundels on the door and front hood. One of the more unusual features of the original GT40 which is found on this particular example is certainly the right hand drive with right hand shift design. Even today very few examples of the model showcase this feature but it does certainly give this car a feel of authenticity which is lacking in other cars. From the proper 14" GT40 steering wheel to the toggle switch filled dash layout, 15" knock off wheels and chrome grommet filled black seats, the level of detail as a GT40 is excellent. Open the cover on the mid mounted engine and you will find a Ford 347 engine equipped with Webber Fuel Injection complete with 8 "trumpet" stacks which provide modern reliability with the authentic vintage look. Putting the power to the road is a GT40 correct ZF 5 speed transaxle. The car performs extremely well and the sound from the custom headers can't be properly described. Among all the elements of race car you will also find some forms of modern civility including leather seats and dash as well as air conditioning, a very welcomed option with windows that don't open. The list of further details found on this car is long and extensive but the quality is instantly apparent when reviewing the car. This example would make an excellent acquisition for a range of people from collectors to enthusiasts; a car that can be driven and enjoyed for touring or even put on a track and pushed to high levels of performance.
