Fully Restored and Documented Original Shelby

The 1966 Shelby's were visually very similar to the original 1965's, but they were a little less purpose built as a sports car. They retained their back seats, had slightly softer suspension, full undercar exhaust systems and visually now had distinguishing rear ¼ windows in place of the vents on the '65's and "regular" Mustang models. They did however retain the 306hp "K" code Hi-Po engine and 4 speed transmission as well as an optional "cruise-o-matic" automatic transmission. The cars were also available in five colours, Red, Blue, Green, Black and White with optional factory LeMans stripes.

The story of this stunning Sapphire Blue Shelby GT 350 begins May 11, 1966 at The Marshall Motor Company where it was sold to its first owner. According to the Shelby World Registry, the car changed hands a few times through its history before being treated to a complete rotisserie restoration. The correct Sapphire Blue paint was professionally applied with white LeMans stripes and white side striping. The undercarriage done in proper red-oxide primer with Sapphire Blue overspray, the interior properly restored in black with fold down rear seat, dash mounted tach and racing belts. Having been collector owned and maintained every since, the car shows beautifully. Recent mechanical restoration to the numbers matching K-code engine including a complete engine detail ensures that the car continues to function as well as it shows. Listed in the current Shelby Registry on pages 302 & 482, the car is also fully documented with copies of the original Shelby American invoices, original titles, old ads from previous sales and some photos taken during the restoration.
