As popular as America's sports car had grown since its 1953 debut, it was time for a change for the 1963-1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Even the most superlative design grows whiskers after a decade, and Chevrolet chief Bill Mitchell and stylist Larry Shinoda faced a tough task: to improve a living legend. Not only did they succeed, but their creation turned into a modern classic and arguably the most collectible Corvette of them all. For 1966 Chevrolet made only a few developmental changes to the Stingray, an egg-crate grille insert to replace the previous horizontal bars, backup lights were now standard and were incorporated into the existing tail lights. Finally, Corvettes received the "Stingray" emblem in the corner of the hood for 1966.

The  L36 427/390 V8 needed the design team to modify the hood shape to fit the big block motor. The result is a very aggressive look, conveying outright power for onlookers. The numbers matching L36 427/390HP engine still looks very fresh owing to its detailed previous restoration. This is an engine bay that begs to be shown off. The performance of this big block roadster is further enhanced with disc brakes, independent suspension and nimble roadster body. The view of this chassis is just as good as the performance, showing only light use after a thorough restoration.

The rare color combination makes a very striking package. The Silver Pearl paint looks sharp with matching Silver leather interior and is contrasted beautifully by the Black Soft Top. Inside is the bright silver carpet and silver panels and the factory AM/FM radio. The black dash pad and center console is  like new, its color fits in very well. On the outside, the redline tires and the silver side exhaust system completes the bold look.
