1965 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350

Beautifully Restored, Fully Documented and Numbers Matching

The 1965 Shelby came to be when Ford wanted to up its performance reputation, specifically of its new to market Mustang. Just as is the case with many racing derived special models of the 60's, many of the unique changes to the car were done out of necessity more than anything else. The definition of a "Sports Car" meant that it had to be a 2 seater, so the rear seat was deleted. Only the engine or the suspension could be modified, not both, so the suspension on the street model GT350 was identical to that of the "R" models allowing racing engines to be developed and installed. In total only 562 Shelby GT350's were produced in 1965, very rare, very special and perhaps the most purpose built Shelby Mustang ever built.

As with all 1965 GT350's, this beautiful car is finished in its factory correct Wimbledon White exterior with the optional blue racing stripes and of course the requisite blue side stripes displaying it as the famous "GT350".  Finishing off the overall look and unmistakable sound of the car are the factory side exiting exhaust just in front of the correct Blue Dot tires mounted on CS Cragar wheels. The interior is all business on a '65 Shelby, dash mounted pod with 8,000 rpm tach and oil pressure, racing seat belts, 15" wood rimmed steering wheel and of course the toggle horn switch next to the factory radio delete plate. Put this Shelby on a hoist and you will quickly see the factory correct red-oxide primer with body color over spray, Koni shocks, aluminum case T-10 transmission and on even closer inspection, the numbers matching VIN on the side of the K-code 289 Hi-Po engine block can be seen. Along with this car comes a complete binder of information showing all pertinent casting numbers and date codes, Shelby American documentation including; order form, shipping invoice, car invoice and warranty work orders.  It is listed in the Shelby American World Registry and VIN number verification by Shelby American has been completed.   The 1965 Shelby GT350's were the first of their breed, purpose built, very rare and very unique. With these characteristics combined with a numbers matching motor, beautiful restoration and full documentation, this car is a terrific example for anyone looking to add the true original Shelby Mustang to their collection.
