Fully Documented, Original Shelby GT 350

The 1965 Shelby came to be when Ford wanted to up its performance reputation, specifically of its new to market Mustang. Just as is the case with many racing derived special models of the 60's, many of the unique changes to the car were done out of necessity more than anything else. The definition of a "Sports Car" meant that it had to be a 2 seater, so the rear seat was deleted. Only the engine or the suspension could be modified, not both, so the suspension on the street model GT350 was identical to that of the "R" models allowing racing engines to be developed and installed. In total only 562 Shelby GT350's were produced in 1965, very rare, very special and very likley the most purpose built Shelby Mustang ever built.

On June 14, 1965 the transformation of this factory Ford Mustang into a high performing Shelby GT350 began, ten days later work  the was completed. Soon after it was consigned and shipped to the legendary high performance dealer Tasca Ford, before ultimately getting invoiced and sold new through Sullivan Ford Sales. Factory equipped with LeMans stripes and 15" Shelby/Cragar wheels, this car had a fantastic look from the beginning, a look it continues to show to this day. Having been treated to some restoration work over the years as necessary, the numbers matching Hi-Po engine has been rebuilt and fully detailed in the process. The correct Wimbledon White paint with blue stripes shows well having been previously freshened up to go along with a tastefully restored black interior which feature all the correct style '65 Shelby elements, dash mounted tach and oil pressure gauges and racing lap belts. The car of course comes with a binder of documentation and information including copies of all the Shelby American documents such as dealer invoices, shipping invoice and photos of all components such as heads, distributor part number, carburetor part number and engine stamp. Overall this Shelby is an excellent, correct, collector owned and maintained example of one of the most desirable Shelby models ever produced. Add to this; the rarity, the Shelby pedigree and you have an excellent car for the collector enthusiast to enjoy for many years to come.
