Complete No Expenses Spared Nut and Bolt Frame Off Restoration
Triple taillights tell us this is an Impala. Chevrolet wanted to be sure people knew you were driving the top-of-the-line, as other Chevrolet models made do with dual taillights. The Impala name appeared for the first time in 1958 as a deluxe trim and appearance package on the Bel Air hardtop and convertible. It became a separate, top-of-the-line series in 1959. In 1964 the Chevrolet Impala SS was considered to be the most luxurious and sporty of the Chevrolet models available, and with only six to ten percent being convertibles, making this car extremely rare.
This outstanding example was delivered to its first owner Roy Floyd-Jones on 5/7/64. Its finished in its rare and highly desirable factory Bahama Green metallic paint and features a tan convertible top and saddle bucket interior. Chrome bumpers accent the vehicle as well as a unique metal trim piece on the side give prominence to a polished circle pattern that truly makes this vehicle look luxurious. Luxury continues to the inside of this Impala, as the interior looks brand new. This like new condition is a result of this Impala having completed a no expense spared frame off nut and bolt rotisserie restoration with cost as no object.
Under the hood is Chevrolet's signature, the original 327 cu in Turbo Fire V8 mated to the powerglide automatic transmission. Decoding the VIN indicates that this vehicle was indeed equipped with a Super Sport, a two door V8 convertible body style and produced out of Framingham, MA. Decoding the trim tag shows that this vehicle features factory options including a tinted windshield, powerglide transmission, padded dash, as well as comfort and convenience group.
This 1964 Impala convertible comes fully documented with the 1964 owner protection warranty book,, original owners manual, seat belt instruction manual, operation and care for convertible top manual, as well as the optional accessories pamphlet. Also it has the bill of sale from august 11th 1976 from Davy Chevrolet Cadillac complete with odometer statement. Factoring in the rare exterior paint and matching numbers, the concours-quality restoration and complete documentation this Impala SS convertible may very well be one of the finest 1964 convertibles around.
