1963 Porsche 356B Cabriolet

Porsche is famous for the careful development of its automobiles, so it is no surprise that the ever-evolving 356 models were highly developed and sophisticated automobiles for their time. The 356B (T6 body) for the 1962 model year was introduced in September of 1961 and had significant changes. It displayed twin air-intake grilles in the rear lid, an outside gas filler in the right front fender, a new cowl vent, and a flattened lower edge of the front lid. By 1963, the 'Super' variant benefited from an additional 20 horsepower over its standard 1,582cc engine and was available in both coupe and cabriolet form.

We are pleased to offer this fine example that just came out of a major collection. Having previously benefited from a comprehensive restoration this Porsche shows great attention to detail, fit, and paint quality. Finished in the correct signal red, it is a numbers matching example, as per the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Optional factory equipment on this "S" Reutter Cabriolet include: Ventilated Chrome Wheels, "Frankfurt de Luxe" Blaupunkt Radio with two loudspeakers, antenna and Conti Tires. Accompanying this 356 is the convertible top tonneau cover and custom car cover.

With only 933 specimens of the Cabriolet being produced for the 1963 model year, this is a great opportunity to acquire a rare addition to any collection, yet still be able to be driven and enjoyed. It is no coincidence that Ken Purdy wrote in the pages of Playboy that the 356B "may be the most fun to drive of anything built in the world."
